Kristina's Story

Kristina Coppinger started playing lacrosse in 5th grade for the Brookside Badgers after her aunt, Mary Orndoff, gifted her an old women’s lacrosse stick. Coppinger played the following 3 years for the Prairie Village Outlaws. St. Teresa’s Academy was the place she called home for the next four years as she balanced the Tennis, Basketball, Cross Country and Lacrosse in addition to classes, work and extracurriculars. Coppinger played on multiple club teams over her years in order to get seen by college coaches; The Kansas City Blue Lions, The Lakers, Brave, Brine Minnesota, MO22, VA Metro, Midwestern Force and FCA to name a few.

Arizona State University became her home in 2016 as she began her collegiate athletic career on the inaugural women’s lacrosse team. She was one of the only girls from the Midwest on the team from the time the team began to when she graduated in the spring of 2020 with a Bachelors in Science of Civil Engineering and a Minor in Sustainability from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. Over her time at ASU she joined the Gamma Phi chapter of Delta Gamma, wrote and defended her thesis on Liquefaction of Soils, and reconnected with her faith life.

Coppinger, a coach of 5 years, is excited to be back in Kansas City to pursue her career of Civil Engineering at Burns & McDonnell while also continuing her passion of coaching young women in the game that gave her so much.
